Board of Presidents of Vietnam National University HCMC and Board of Rectors of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, heads of academic faculties and and administrative offices, lecturers and 300 students participated the talk presented by Prof. Glashow<\/span><\/p>\n Under the program \u201cThe 9th<\/sup>\u00a0Vietnam Meeting \u201c in Quy Nhon \u2013 Binh Dinh Province, 5 Nobel Prize winners in Physics arrived to attend\u00a0 the seminar \u201cWindows on the Universe\u201d. His talk enlightened pursuit of scientific dreams for generations of HCMUT students. As a peace-lover, Prof. Sheldon Lee Glashow refused job offers which provided high salary such as research on warheads. Years later, when he worked for the military, he resolutely refused research entitled \u201cTop secret\u201d or others relating to war affairs. Conference room B4 was full of participants and filled with questions directing to the Nobel Prize winner about his scientific works.<\/span><\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_blurb image=”https:\/\/oisp.hcmut.edu.vn\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Gapgo1.jpg” _builder_version=”3.10.1″ body_font=”||on||||||” body_text_align=”center” body_line_height=”1.5em” box_shadow_style_image=”preset3″ text_orientation=”center” custom_margin=”10px||10px|” custom_padding=”0px||0px|”] Prof. Sheldon Lee Glashow was awarded Nobel Prize in 1979 for his contribution for electroweak interaction and neutral current. Prof. Sheldon Lee Glashow was born in 1932 in New York to an Jewish immigrant from Russia. He graduated Bronx High School of Science in 1950, recieved his Bachelor at Cornell University in 1954 and Doctor in Physics at Harvard University.<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_blurb image=”https:\/\/oisp.hcmut.edu.vn\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Gapgo5.jpg” _builder_version=”3.10.1″ body_font=”||on||||||” body_text_align=”center” body_line_height=”1.5em” box_shadow_style_image=”preset3″ text_orientation=”center” custom_margin=”10px||10px|” custom_padding=”0px||0px|”] From 1962 to 1966, he worked for University of California, Berkerley as an Associate Professor. He became professor at the Department of Physics at Harvard University in 1966.
