International students in practice sessions at HCMUT Bach Khoa<\/span><\/p>\n

In the academic year 2019-2020, HCMUT Bach Khoa (VNU-HCM) bought accident insurance for 20,673 students of the full-time program. In detail, each student of Intake 2019 was sponsored an insurance value of 40,000 valid for 15 months, students of other intakes were sponsored 30,000 one valid for 12 months.<\/p>\n

The total money the university paid for this was more than 600 million dong, which was extracted from the university\u2019s revenue.<\/p>\n

According to Assoc. Prof, Dr. Tran Thien Phuc, Vice-Rector of HCMUT Bach Khoa<\/strong>, this is the first time the university ever made this decision. As stated in the government regulations, it is not compulsory for students to join the accident insurance. However, as a characteristic of engineering training, students often have practice sessions in the laboratory, workshop. In this session, many students are exposed to chemicals, electricity, machines, etc.<\/p>\n

Therefore, possessing accident insurance is vital to ensure the students\u2019 rights in case of an emergency. Moreover, it is also required by some enterprises on offering internships.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeside exchanging knowledge, the university also pays attention to the students\u2019 safety<\/strong> in specific training environment\u201d, Assoc. Prof Phuc emphasized.<\/p>\n
