Summarize the assessment according to the Quality Assurance Standards for the Advanced program, English program (2018-2019)

Quality assurance standards for formal education programs at university level – version 1.1 was issued with the Decision No. 1173/QD-DHBK-TCHC (May 16th 2018) by the Rector of the University of Technology (Vietnam national university HCM city).

From December 2018 to July 2019, the Office of Quality Assurance (OQA) and the Office for International Study Programs (OISP) conducted internal assessment for 10 programs including 01 Advanced program (AP) and 09 English programs (EPs) with the following time:

On August 15th 2019, OQA and OISP held a meeting to summarize EPs and AP internal assessment results in accordance with the internal quality assurance standards, with Board of Rectors, Academic Affairs Department, Faculties, and program managers.

The meeting program took place as follows:

  • Dr. Nguyen Hua Phung presented the final report for summarizing core issues of the internal assessment and proposed solutions;
  • Dr. Vo Dai Nhat presented issues related to accreditation and proposed solutions;
  • Board of Rectors, Faculties, OQA, OISP, Academic Affairs Department discussed issues.

Some suggestions for improvement in 2019-2020:

Academic Affairs Department:

  • Advising the Board of Directors on issuing the process of developing curriculum;
  • Completing the course syllabus management software to publicize course syllabus;
  • Publicizing objectives and outcomes of EPs and AP.

Faculties:

  • Reviewing the curriculum in 2019, ensuring that outcomes of EPs and AP is higher than the general program in accordance with Circular 23/2014/TT-BGDĐT;
  • Developing a process for evaluating program-level outcomes;
  • Conducting assessment of program-level outcomes and improving on assessment results;
  • Strictly complying with Regulation 262/ĐHBK-ĐTQT and Circular 23/2014/TT-BGDĐT;
  • Coordinating with the OISP to prepare materials (books) for learners;
  • Strengthening management of laboratories, paying attention to safety in laboratories.

Based on the proposal of OISP QA Team, the Board of Rectors allowed to suspend the reevaluation to the academic year 2020-2021 (instead of 2019-2020) so that the units could:

  • Developing new curriculum in the academic year 2019-2020;
  • Implementing the requirements of Circular 23/2014/TT-BGDĐT and Regulation 262/ĐHBK-ĐTQT;

During this period, OISP QA Team will review the criteria of the internal quality standards and organize training courses./.
