Last weekend, Technology Day 2016 ran jubilantly at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology with the participation of nearly 3000 freshmen (students of Intake 2015).

Joining the day, there were Assoc. Prof. Doan Thi Minh Trinh – Deputy Head of CDIO Project ofVietnam National University; Assoc. Prof. Vu Dinh Thanh – Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology; Assoc. Prof Tran Thien Phuc – Vice Rector of HCMUT;  Mr. Bui Trong Tin – Vice Director of SAMCO; Mr. Nguyen Huu Quoc – Representative of Texas Instruments; Deans of Schools and students of HCMUT.

Speaking at the Technology Day 2016, Assoc. Prof. Vu Dinh Thanh emphasized:

Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology is the leading university to apply CDIO project(Conceive – Design – Implement – Operate) into study programs of HCMUT and the quality is improved yearly.

In the first year, students are taught “Introduction of Technology” in which CDIO principle is simply applied. In the next years, students have opportunities to continue their projects, enhance their skill of engineering. This is a basis for entrepreneurs evaluate their future engineer line-up and “specifically order” HCMUT to build the Graduate Standards following CDIO Projects”.

Although it’s just the first semester at HCMUT, students of Intake 2015 brought to the Day more than 400 unique model having applicability.

Starting from 2014-2015 school year, HCMUT has developed new study programs which is 140 credits. The study program focuses on offering knowledge and training skills, encourages students to participate in scientific research, engineering and technology creativity. This is the outcome of the process of building study program following CDIO model after successful appliance to programs of School of Mechanical Engineering

The very first Technology Day (2011) was only held for freshmen of School of Mechanical Engineering. From the success of Technology Day in 2011, Technology Day 2015 was held for 2 more schools: School of Materials Technology and School of Chemical Engineering.

This year, that Technology Day 2016 was open for whole HCMUT students made a great chance for students to show their ideas to others and learn from others as well.

Technology Day helps students get involved in creative research environment through which they could have a broader view of the major they are studying. On the other hand, students can also self-train soft skills such as team working, problem solving, communicating, presenting, etc.

Thanks to the Technology Day, entrepreneurs enhanced their relationships with  Schools of HCMUT and evaluate HCMUT future engineers. They also contributed key ideas to education process, and building Graduate Standards following CDIO Model.
