On the morning of July 31st 2020, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT – Bach Khoa) held a meeting between “Meeting of Enterprises and New Engineers 2020”. There were about 20 businesses attending the meeting such as BM Windows, Kim Tin, May Dong Phuong, etc. with nearly 300 candidates and students connected from many locations.
In accordance with the Vietnamese government’s official dispatch of temporarily restricting crowds of people to prevent and combat COVID- 19, the faculty of Mechanical Engineering was in rush to change the activities from offline format into the online one.
The “Meeting of the Business and New Engineer” program is held twice a year, at the time when the final year students have just finished the final thesis, completing their academic assignments to officially become a new engineer. Held for the twelfth time, this program is an effective bridge to help employers find the best candidates and suit the human resource requirements of the business, as well as create real opportunities for students to learn and explore the working environment.
The “Meeting of Businesses and New Engineers 2020” was held at the time when the developments of the current Covid-19 situation are complicated, so the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering had switched the format of the meeting into online. This online format was strongly supported and participated by businesses and students. A few businesses sent representatives to the department to participate in the program, who has been fully supported in preventing and combating the pandemic: temperature measurement, masks, hand washing equipment, safe social distancing, etc. During the meeting, many companies appreciated the safety and convenience and said that they would learn and apply this model to organize online recruitment for the company in the near future.
