Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City in Top 1001 THE Worldwide Rankings

Three universities of Vietnam have entered the World University Rankings 2020 of the Times Higher Education (THE) magazine for the first time.

Dr. Nguyen Quoc Chinh, Director of The Center for Educational Testing and Quality Assessment – Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, announced that according to ranking result of worldwide universities in 2020 from Times Higher Education (THE World University Rankings 2020), Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City was in top 1001+.
THE’s ranking criteria include teaching (30% of total), research (30%), citations (30%), international outlook (7.5%), income from knowledge transfer (2.5%).

Universities assessing and ranking criteria of THE

In order to get objective data for judgment, THE has conducted an analysis of 77.4 million citations in 12.8 articles published in the recent five years from Elsevier, data provider and annual report from Academic Reputation Survey with a view to providing an all-round and fair quality comparison among worldwide universities.

In this ranking, Vietnam also has two other representatives, which are Hanoi University of Science and Technology and Hanoi National University, in the top 1000.

THE, founded in 2004, is a weekly magazine based in London reporting specifically on news and issues related to higher education. THE World University Rankings is a credible ranking which is taken on trust by undergraduates, scientists, leaders of universities, businesses and governments.

Apart from THE, QS (belongs to Quacquarelli Symonds, United Kingdom) and ARMU (belongs to Shanghai Jiao Tong University) are also two of many famous university ranking institutes.

Previously, in QS World University Rankings 2020, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City had been in the top 1000, positioned 701-750.
