The field trip is the annual event organizing by the Office for International Student Program (OISP) for the 1st year student. Hence, the students are equipped the practical knowledge of the companies, concreting the actual work that students have to do after graduate.

Placed at the North West Cu Chi Industrial Park (HCMC), Unilever Viet Nam welcomed the students of HCMUT at 7h30a.m. This destination is both the headquarter and the direct factory of the company, with the acreage about 12.5 hectares. Unilever is one of the biggest multinational corporations working in various aspects, such as Personal Care, Homecare, Food, and Oral Care.

Excited students exchanging information with the company.

At this place, we were introduced about the company and the positions, which students of the HCMUT can approach in the future, by the Director of the Protecting and Labor Safety of the company.

The delegate of the company also guided us about  the worker protecting regulations, an aspects  that Unilever  really taking care of. We were also introduced about the 4M process (Materials – Machines – Men – Method)

Interestingly, making just a shampoo bottle needs a corporation between  a lot of engineers working in many different aspects. Those are not only the roles of Chemical Food, Organic Chemistry and Inorganic Chemistry (to make the products and testing  the quality), the process also needs Mechanical, Electrical engineers (to create the automatic chain to produce the products) and civil engineer (to build the factory), Environametal  Engineer (to handle the wastewater); bachelor of management (to prepare the marketing plan and promoting for the product).

Additionally, the delegate of the Human Resources shared the information of the company, the achievement and the developing plan of Unilever.

The field trip ended with the best part, which we were taken to the actual field to observe the factory and the production process.

Because of the security protection of Unilever, we didn’t have the authority to take pictures at the field. It’s a pity because we don’t have the photos to show our friends after the trip. But we learned more about the security regulations of the big companies.
