BACH KHOA STUDENT GOT PRIZES IN TWO INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT COMPETITIONS
On March 30th, Dang Nguyen Minh Cuong, a Bach Khoa former student of transfer program, excellently won the second prize of SHRM Case Competition at Illinois, USA.
Once Bach Khoa student batch 2013 of transfer program, Minh Cuong currently have graduated from University of Illinois, USA (UIS) and continued on MBA program.
On March 30th, Minh Cuong and his team excellently went through 3 rounds, defeated tens of competitors from leading universities in the USA and made it to top 2 at Human Resource Management Competition: SHRM Case Competition organized by Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). SHRM is a community of world top Human Resource Management experts, representatives of more than 300,000 members from 165 different countries.

MULTITALENTED & DYNAMIC
Born in Sai Gon, this man is a typical well-rounded student with admirable achievements. Apart from graduating from university with GPA of 3.32, Minh Cuong is also the President of UIS Table Tennis Club, administrator of Facebook page: Vietnamese Student Association at UIS and Vice President of SHRM Student Association.

CHALLENGES IN SHRM CASE COMPETITION
According to competition rules, a group of six students from all American universities will compete with one another to come up with human resource management solutions to real problems. The competition contains three parts: writing summary of problems solutions, presentation and defense before judging council with reputative managers from top companies.

Cuong’s group did not have the privilege right from the start, as in their curriculum, there were not as many advanced subjects in Human Resource Management as other universities. “Most of my competitors majored in Human Resource Management, they all came to this competition with well preparation of knowledge and skills. We had to use 120% of our ability to compete with them!” – said Cuong.
However, having great, well-organized teamwork, professional research and careful preparation for defense sessions, Cuong’s group had an excellent performance before the judging council and received second prize, an admirable achievements of an ameteur group.

“Everyone was surprised” – Cuong shared with us – “When we received the prize, all competitors were happy and gave us congratulations”.
FUTURE ORIENTATION
Cuong told us, although being the runner up of SHRM Competition brought me a lot of happiness and precious relationships, he will not rest on laurels. Graduated from Human Resource major, Cuong aims for management positions of clubs, student associations and internships in companies. This not only helps Cuong accumulate experiences, improve skills but also opens up many future opportunities.

Being an international student and working at Vietnamese Student Association at UIS, Cuong is always willing to support his juniors, especially those from Bach Khoa. Cuong sends them an advice: “Of course, when studying abroad, culture and language barrier is inevitable, do not try to avoid them but courageously deal with them. Speak English everyday, take part in as many activities as possible and don’t ever let international students look down on us.”
