A famously fastidious Deputy Secretary of OISP – HCMUT

Le Tuan – student of Intake 2013 studying Electrical – Electronic Engineering, is currently a Deputy Secretary of Office for International Study Programs. His name must be very familiar to students who actively take part in our university events and activities.

Being invited to this interview, Le Tuan friendly said that “Actually I was quite surprised when being invited to the interview. Because I think representatives invited are welcomed, and loved by the majority of students. I was not somehow. Students are afraid of seeing me more than welcoming”

Taking over much responsibilities makes him hardly win the student’s hearts at the first sight. Indeed, he is very devoted to his work at Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of HCMUT and rich in affection.

Let’s have short talk to get to know him better!

— ENDLESS NATURAL ASSOCIATION WITH HCMUT COMMUNIST YOUTH UNION —

That a junior student is in charge of Deputy Secretary of OISP (Office for International Study Programs) is not just a piece of cake. He has gone through lots of ups and downs to accelerate experience and skills, to be stronger so that he could take over the responsibilities given.

He started participating in activities of Youth Union when he was about 12 years old. After 6 years being with Youth Union activities, when he went to HCMUT, he determined that “My first priority goal when studying in HCMUT is to focus on studying, which means joining in student’s activities less, spending more time for his self-study and experience a typical student life”.

Contrary to his serious-and-strict manner when working, Le Tuan (right) also has some mischievous moment like other students, with his close friend Le Trinh Hoang Tan.

However, right at the first semester of Pre – University program of HCMUT, Le Tuan quickly got closed to his very first university friend – Le Trinh Hoang Tan, who is currently the Chairman of the Students’ Association of OISP. He was studying Soft-skill class of which Mr. Tran Van Trinh – Secretary of Youth Union of OISP at the time – was a teaching assistant. Once again, he was inspired and stepped in students’ activities, starting from being a member of Organization Board of OISP Camp 2013.

Le Tuan is warming up with freshmen in mobilization ceremony of OISP Camp 2015.

“Everything has its price; I did get value but I also lose some. I spend less time for my classmates, for my own free time when friends asking me out. I am always busy with students’ campaigns and activities.

But it doesn’t mean I lose much, anyway. I had lots of funny and precious memories with my friends, my teams of which I was their leader.”

— FORGET HIMSELF WHEN TALKING ABOUT TEAMS —

Of all the time chatting with us, Le Tuan was passionately deep in telling us activities, campaigns that he has built with his teammates. When we reminded him, he then realized that until the time speaking, he had kept talking all about the students, OISP surroundingsOISP activities, etc. but himself. It was likely that the stories he shared are his motivation and inspiration in his joining and building activities for students.

Just as many of his same-age friends, Le Tuan also have pressure from studying, his daily life and his wants for his own. Maybe because of responsibilities, he has to train himself stronger, and stricter to himself to get his best results for studying and working. For the target of the project, he admitted that: “Of any programs I partly or fully conducted, I sacrificed to play the role of “a bad guy” to push the progress and motivate students when needed.”

— HARD CADRE, HARDER LEARNER —

Studying technology is tough, study Electrical – Electronic Engineering is even tougher, not to mention his important roles in Youth Union’s activities. However, it’s not the challenging of the role that he takes his study easy. Executive Committee of OISP Youth Union and he had pointed out the marginal conditions to join the Executive Committee of OISP Youth Union higher than that of the HCMUT Youth Union to encourage students’ studying spirit, and to claiming that “Be a hard cadre, be harder learner!”

The writer would like to give special thanks to Le Tuan for not only spending time talking to us but also endlessly devoting to students’ activities of Office for International Study Programs.
