22 HCMUT students received Sunflower Mission scholarships

Sunflower Mission is an annual prestigious scholarship program for Engineering and Technology students. HCMUT students accounted for 22 over 39 scholarships of the program in Ho Chi Minh City.

HCMUT students achieved 22 over 39 scholarships of Sunflower Mission 2015 in Ho Chi Minh City, and almost all of the students are male, there was only one female student.

The Sunflower Mission Award Ceremony happened on December 1st, 2015 with the presence of Ph.D Lê Duy Loan – Vice President of Texas Instruments Corporation (America), founder of Sunflower Mission Scholarship Fund; PhD Vũ Thế Dũng – Vice Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology; students achieving scholarships, representatives from universities, entrepreneurs and guests.

Sunflower Mission is a scholarship program for students who are completing a bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology, including Electronic, Telecommunications, Computer Science and Computer Engineering, from second year to final year. The students are selected from 9 universities in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang – where Esilicon plant is located, including Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, University Of Science Ho Chi Minh City, University of Technical Education, Post and Telecommunications Institute of Technology, University of Information Technology, International University, Da Nang University of Technology, Duy Tan University (Da Nang)

To receive a scholarship, besides the requirements like good GPA, good English skills,…a student has to go through 4 rounds that are Admission, Presentation, Interview, and Decision Round. Finally, they selected 59 excellent students deserving for the scholarships which values 6.5 million each. Not only that, the students in top 5 also received Paid-Internship Offer and Job Offer Letter from Esilicon Corporation right after graduation.

Mr.Jack Harding – President cum CEO of Esilicon Corporation said: “We co-operate with Sunflower Mission organization to offers grants to 50 – 60 undergraduate students a year. Although the value of the scholarship is not much but it’s a way to encourage students to achieve their goals.”

To get the scholarships, students not only had to have good GPA, and good English skills, but also had to win over 4 challenging rounds.

According to Organization Board, Sunflower Mission Scholarship Program 2014 awarded 54 students from 7 universities in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang. Most of them now are working for Esilicon Viet Nam.

This year, 2015, there are 59 excellent students (39 from Ho Chi Minh City, and 20 from Da Nang) that won over the rounds to get the scholarships. After the Award Ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City, Organization Board continues to offer scholarships to 20 students from Da Nang University and Duy Tan University in Da Nang.
