Nguyen Xuan Bang sharing his experience in Bach Khoa Innovation Kick-off session 2018

In order to get a successful deal with 23 billion VND at Shark Tank Vietnam, Nguyen Xuan Bang (with his partner Pham Tan Phuc) – has “shore up down paddy field” with dozens of ideas starting from the time when he was a student of Industrial Management at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology.

His first project is Click Now – an enterprise map linking the real and virtual worlds in the game, but it gonna have a premature death after six months with an operation based on his tuition fees. After that, Bang and his colleagues continue to develop the HR Key project to minimize recruitment time for the businesses and increase the recruitment rate. Eight months later, HR Key followed the call of … Click Now.

Do not be discouraged, Nguyen Xuan Bang participated in more than 30 small and big entrepreneurship competitions in Ho Chi Minh City National University, Singapore, India, and the United States … from that point on he saw the shortcomings in his project. Withdrawing the cause of failure, he has shown the following main points:

The goals are too big for the ability → Lesson learned: big ideas come from small ideas when the small idea is big enough, it will make a big impact
There are too many people, each with an idea, lack of decentralization, unable to find a common voice → The team must be streamlined, understand each other, effective teamwork skills
Poor understanding of the market → Need to consult, listen to comments from experts/coaches/ mentors ahead so that the idea becomes more feasible, sticking to market demand

From the practical experience of himself, Nguyen Xuan Bang advised Bach Khoa’s students to take part in creative ideas contests such as Bach Khoa Innovation because of the benefits that they bring: know how to build a core team to connect and understand each other, have skills to work in multitasking field; multidimensional observation, looking at issues from a global and social perspective; know how to schedule effectively, balance work with school work; expand relationships, find potential customers; improve English proficiency and presentation …

Thanks to failure, Xuan Bang has gradually improved Gcalls – a solution to establish a switchboard system within five minutes, including call center infrastructure, integrated call management software. CRM (customer relationship management) combination, helping small and medium enterprises take care of customers effectively.

Talk about the importance of “honing” ideas at creative innovation contests, Ph.D. Dang Dang Tung – A Head of the Office for International Study Programme (Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology), representative of the organizer of Bach Khoa Innovation 2018, shared: “Through this competition, not only one but many Bach Khoa’s students belong to many different systems/programs/disciplines/faculties participate in the scientific research. The more you enter the round, your ideas will gradually become more enforced through assessments, all devices have come from the advisers who is successful start-up experts, teachers / Bach Khoa’s former students”.
