To advance to the finale, La Thong and Trong Tin had to nominated other contestants in the first round within the University with 2 sections: theoretical academic (50 MCQs) and practical academic (setting up a PC in accordance with the contest’s requirements and overlocking to optimize the PC).

In the First Round, La Thong and Trong Tin has left the judges with a convincing impression and the audience by their knowledge and experience in the field of computer hardware and building PCs – because this area of knowledge is not emphasized in the university.

Trong Tin shared that his experience had been accumulated since he started to build his own PCs and for his family. And La Thong also shared that his PC at home is just within the mid-range. Participating in Expert Challenge, Thong has the opportunity to reach out to the latest and strongest models of hardware at the time, as well as to gain more factual knowledge from the top professionals of the field.

Especially, in the section of purchasing components, La Thong has overspent on the required budget so he was asked to re-purchase after the waiting time ended. Unfortunately, after the waiting time, most of the good components were “outsold” so Thong had to set up a PC with an unwanted configuration. However, with the base of CPU Core i7, Thong has succeeded in overclocking it to 5.1 GHz, higher than some ones that have better configurations. Meanwhile, Tin’s overclocking reached 5.3 GHz.
