Only two Vietnam Universities are ranked in the top 1.000 universities in the world

QS World University Rankings has just announced the list of 1,001 leading universities in the world in 2020. Vietnam continues to have two universities appearing in the annual rankings QS World University Rankings as Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh and Vietnam National University Ha Noi.

Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City in the list of QS World University Rankings

In the ranking of 1,001 universities from 82 countries and territories, Vietnam has two universities as Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh at the top of 701-750 and Vietnam National University Ha Noi at the top of 801-1,000. Previously, in the ranking of 2019, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh and Vietnam National University Ha Noi were also included in this list with the same ranks.

The ranking results are based on a survey of 94,000 universities, 44,000 recruitment managers, 11.8 million research papers and 100 million citations.

QS World University Rankings rank universities according to 6 criteria, including academic reputation (40% of the total score), reputation with the employers, the ratio of lecturers/ students, rate of article citations/ lecturers, the ratio of international lecturers and international students.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (Bach khoa) – Vietnam National University 

QS World University Rankings is the annual ranking of Quacquarelli Symonds Educational Institutions (QS) in the UK. This ranking was first published in 2004.

QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) is one of the top three organizations of the world in universities ranking. There were six criteria have been used to evaluate, including: academic reputation (40%), reputation of employer (10%), teacher / student ratio (20%), scientific excerpts per lecturer (20%), international lecturer ratio (5%), International student ratio (5%).

With the criteria ‘academic reputation’ which is the most important criterion, QS brings together the opinions of more than 70,000 higher education professors for checking for the quality of teaching and research. This is the world’s largest academic survey.

In addition, excerpts is considered to be an important criteria when it comes to educational institution’s mission. For ranking purpose, QS sums up the number of articles, scientific excerpts from lecturer of each university in the last 5 years.
