Take preventative measures against the 2019-nCov outbreak

With regards to the outbreak of 2019-nCov infection (also known as Coronavirus), Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT) shall promptly notify all units, civil servants, officials, staff, and students as follows:

1. As stated by health organizations, the virus can take up to 14 days to incubate. Therefore, any civil servant, official, staff or student (regardless of nationality) who has been to China since 13 January 2020 (or whose family member has been to China since 13 January 2020) must remain at home (not go to university, and then provide documents with legitimate evidence) for 14 days (2 weeks) from the date of returning to HCM city. All teaching, learning, and research activities will be made up later. For the time being, if any of you show flu symptoms, you should go to the nearest medical facility for assistance. The civil servants, officials, staff, and students who are in the abovementioned cases, after obtaining medical clearance, should return to work and study as normal after 15 days. In case you have been to China, you need to notify the university immediately by emailing tchc@hcmut.edu.vn (for civil servants, officials, and staff), and pdt@hcmut.edu.vn (for students).

2. For the time being, individuals who visit, attend to business affairs and have typical symptoms, such as fever or coughs, should contact university’ infirmary immediately for checkups and transfer to health centers if it is necessary.

3. All civil servants, officials, staff and students who start to cough, run a temperature or suffer from flu symptoms similar to those stated by health organizations ought to stay at home and OUGHT NOT to attend classes or go to university.

4. Additionally, we would recommend all units, civil servants, officials, staff, and students to take more personal hygienic actions, restrict yourselves to any unnecessary contact, equip yourselves with protective masks in order to minimize the risk of contagion. All classrooms do not use air conditions and open the door to ensure ventilation.

5. The university’s infirmary is obliged to introduce in-university practical preventative measures as well as increasing the number of university personnel on duty in aid of all units, civil servants, officials, staff, and students should any situations arise.

It is demanded that units, civil servants, officials, staff, and students stringently abide by the content of this announcement.
