VNU-HCM advanced into Top 143 Asia

Increasing 58 levels (compared to 2016) in the QS Asia Rankings 2019-2020 is the result that Quacquarelli Symonds Organization (England) announced on November 27, 2019.

The QS Asia Ranking 2019-2020 has just praised 600 leading universities in Asia, in which Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNU – HCM) ranked 143, Vietnam National University Hanoi ranked 147.

Especially, at the two criteria academic reputation (via colleagues’ opinions survey) and graduate quality (via recruiters’ opinion survey), VNU-HCM is currently the best one in Vietnam and Top 100 Asia leading universities.

Dr. Nguyen Quoc Chinh – Director of Center for Educational Testing and Quality Assessment at VNU – HCM said that these are two critical criteria and account for the largest portion (50%) in 10 university ranking criteria of QS Asia. The score for academic reputation and graduate quality of VNU-HCM respectively are 42.9% and 42.1%.

With this result (Top 143), VNU-HCM advanced 58 levels compared to 2016

For the time being, VNU-HCM has had many achievements in the university rankings such as Top 701-705 QS World, Top 101-105 Under 50 (Top university under 50 years old), Top 1001+ THE World University Rankings 2020. Remarkably, VNU-HCM is the only representative of Vietnam in Top 301-500 QS GER 2020 (Top university with the highest students’ employment rate). Those all are prestigious educational rankings of the area and worldwide.

QS Rankings place universities based on 10 criteria with different proportion, including:
– Academic reputation (30%)
– Recruiters’ opinion survey on graduate quality (20%)
– Lecturers/ students ratio (15%)
– Percentage of doctoral degree lecturers (5%)
– Published articles/ lecturers ratio (10%)
– Citation from each published research (10%)
– International lecturers ratio (2.5%)
– International students ratio (2.5%)
– Domestic students’ exchange (2.5)
