The meet and greet took place on November 11, 2019, in the framework of the Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Programme (SSEAYP) of which Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT) is one out of nine destinations in Vietnam.

SSEAYP 2019 representatives and Bach Khoa students discussed enthusiastically about the theme“Disaster risk reduction and restoration.”

Members from OISP Student Ambassadors (OSA), OISP English Club (OEC), House of OISP Pioneering Elements (HOPE) and OISP Youth Union are Bach Khoa representatives to welcome SSEAYP delegates.

SSEAYP is the result of the agreement between Japan and the 5 founders of ASEAN in 1974. This is an annual cultural exchange program held by Japan government and 10 ASEAN members including Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei, Philippines, and Myanmar.

HCMUT Bach Khoa takes pride in being one out of nine destinations for sightseeing, meet and greet and exchange the culture of SSEAYP in Vietnam.

In the meet and greet, 40 SSEAYP 2019 representatives together with Bach Khoa students discussed enthusiastically the theme “Disaster risk reduction and restoration” though smaller topics such as Impact of climate change in Vietnam, Solutions to adapt with climate change in Vietnam, Water sustainable development methods – energy and food to adapt with climate change in Vietnam, Approaches to enhance treatment capability, cope with environmental incidents and disasters’ consequences.

Starting from November 4th, 2019, the Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Programme (SSEAYP) with the name “Nippon Maru” brought 328 young representatives of 10 ASEAN members and Japan. In the 52-day voyage, the ship stopped at Tan Cang harbor – Hiep Phuoc (Nha Be District) from November 10 to 13, at which they started meet and greet activities with HCMC youth before visiting Singapore, Myanmar, Malaysia then back to Japan.

In the time staying in HCMC, SSEAYP 2019 representatives took part in gala performances, cultural exchange with HCMC youth in universities, Ho Chi Minh City Media Center, HCMC Youth Employment Service Center, Saigon Innovation Hub and went sightseeing famous destinations.
