After visiting the residential building Sunrise City Plot W hosted by Office for International Study Program (OISP), new students K14 majoring in Civil Engineering visualize the diversity of application level of their career.

Groups working in construction sites includes construction engineers, engineering supervisors, engineering leaders, etc.,

Groups working in factories include local supervisors, quality assurance engineers, product developers, etc.,

Groups working in office include designers, project managers, quality assurance engineers, construction consultants, geological survey specialist, specialist in bidding and evaluating documents, etc..,

In this visit, Mr.Nguyen Huu Kha – Human Resources Assistant Manager, Nguyen Quoc Quy – QA&QC informed us the rule, safety standard of the construction sites, legal provisions related to occupational safety and health.

We received useful advices from Mr.Tran Minh Hai – Leader of HSE Department. He also described about Health Service Executive job:

– Manage and develop, take responsible for the project of safety issues, occupational health, fire prevention, environmental protection.

– Guide, inspect, supervise and urge the implementation of regulations and standards on safety, occupational health, safety measures at the site.

– Organize training, safety instructions, occupational health for the workers and employees.

– Develop processes / safeguards for the construction work: Lifting, work at height, confined spaces, electrical safety, work at height, installation of equipment, piping .. .

– Analyze the safety, risk assessment and give the safety measures, occupational health.

– Patrol regularly construction sites, give timely warnings or suspension of work at the position / machine, device or measure / behavioral risk losing work safety or unqualified safe working …

The current trend of companies in Vietnam and the world is that construction engineers must be capable of multitasking and flexible working in different tasks.

This trip brought us much knowledge of civil engineering, especially about the difference of each major that we will have to choose in the third year
