Petroleum Engineering Field Trip: PVD Training and Halliburton

PVD Training is our first point of arrival.

Due to the industry specific characteristics, petroleum companies are usually located near the offshore oil-rig area. The two companies we went to visit are not exclusions. It took us more than 2 hours to get to PVD Training, which is located in Dong Xuyen Industrial Zone, Vung Tau City, Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province. We arrived at 8.45 am.

We are so eager and curious to visit PVD Training. Here we were presented thoughtfully about the challenges that petroleum engineers have to encounter in their career.

Heavy rain didn’t stop us from visiting the second company – Halliburton International GmbH, the second biggest petroleum service company that providing products and services of oil & gas engineering, natural gas exploitation and production.

We met HCMUT alumni working here in Halliburton International GmbH and took in precious experiences and sharing from them.

HCMUT students are divided into 3 small groups to be instructed specifically in using each tool and equipment.

Field Trips are periodical activities for freshmen hosted by Office for International Study Programs of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology. Students participating will be exposed to real practices in certain companies that students may encounter when pursuing their career after graduating. Students of any programs interested in the field trips are welcome to join.
