HALL B6 RENOVATED BY A GROUP OF OUR STUDENTS

The new Hall B6 utilize stable and environment-friendly cement and building materials of SCG.

Hall B6 – Faculty of Civil Engineering has transformed to a modern and luxury hall thanks to the idea of a group of Architecture students in HCMC University of Technology. 

Group MOC received commendation from Associate Professor Dr. Vu Dinh Thanh – Rector of HCMC University of Technology. 

Hall B6 is one of the most outstanding building in the campus and is also home for the Department of Civil Engineering with more than fifty generations of alumni.

Hence, the Board of Rector of HCMC University of Technology wished to renovate the building without losing its traditional traits and students’ distinguished features. Therefore, the university collaborated with SCG Corporation to launch the Hall renovating project named “Recreat the common home B6 with SCG”.

The contest started from November 2014 and attracted hundred of our students to participate in. The team with the most feasible and outstanding idea will receive the highest prize and the idea will also be used to renovate the Hall B6. The renovating cost and materials will be sponsored by the Organizing members.

Outclassed more than 30 rivals, group MOC with 3 students in their final year of Architecture – Faculty of Civil Engineering (Nguyen Thi Hoai Thu, Nguyen Ngoc Phuong Trang and Nguyen Dinh Khoa) claimed the highest prize.

The design of group MOC was highly evaluated due to its intelligent creativity. The design can maximize the usage of natural lighting source as well as create an artful space with highly modern materials of SCG. With the total budget of more than 250 millions VND, Hall B6 now is covered with a completely new, luxury and modern apperance.

Nguyen Dinh Khoa shared: “This competition is really helpful and it offers students in Faculty of Civil Engineering – HCMC University of Technology a chance to be creative, to turn their ideas into reality. Through this competition, we can enhance our foundation knowledge gained from classes and also accumulate actual experience through real construction process. Above all, it is the changes of Hall B6 – the home to every student in Faculty of Civil Engineering – that I am proud of the most.”
