US CONSUL GENERAL VISITED HCMUT ROBOTICS CLUB’S INAUGURATION CEREMONY

On 16th September, on celebrating its 4th anniversary, the American Center in Ho Chi Minh City organized the inaugural ceremony of the Student Robotics Club at HCMC University of Technology. The club aims at providing a chance for students to research, learn and also serves as a playground for students with a common interest in robot programming.

The ceremony welcomed Ms. Kristie Kenney – Career Ambassador in the United States Foreign Services, Ms. Rena Bitter – US Consul General, Associate Prof. Dr. Vu Dinh Thanh – Rector of HCMC University of Technology, Mr. Doan Kim Thanh – Manager of Youth Technology Development Center and lots of press and media attention with thousands of students from high schools and universities who are highly interested in robot technology.

The Students Robotics Club also presented lots of amazing projects such as: Remote control robot via human activities, obstacles detecting device, modern electronics board circuit, etc. Ms. Bitter was really fascinated when she tried our students’ products and devices.
Recently, HCMC University of Technology has increasingly concentrated on developing students’ creativity and practical skills, etc. besides theoretical knowledge. Associate Prof. Dr. Vu Dinh Thanh – HCMUT’s Rector said that the collaboration with the American Center will boost the effectiveness of the Robotics Club in providing students with a healthy and educational playground, promoting students’ creativity, interest in the robotics field. Instructed by our experienced professors and lecturers, the club shall become one of the leading force in training and researching about robotics for students in high schools and universities. Besides, HCMC University of Technology is also going to develop other clubs in different fields such as mechanical engineering, chemical engineering or computer science, etc.

Ms. Rena Bitter had made a speech at the ceremony, stating that after 4 years working in HCMC, the American Center has played a significant role in promoting education collaboration between two countries. The center has organized various activities such as teaching English, business skills, etc. In the near future, the center will concentrate more on technological field, firstly by collaborating with HCMC University of Technology in establishing the Robotics Club. The club’s member, regardless of their background will be trained about how to build and program a robot.
It is strongly hoped that the Robotics Club will have more and more helpful and practical activities for our students which can also promise more and more collaboration opportunities between HCMUT and other local and global organizations in the future.
